Sunday School

This is a sample paragraph that will need to be filled in at a later date.  This is to help see how text looks on this page and to see if this is adequit for our needs.  Yes I am rambling about nothing because thats what is needed and I'm thankful I talk to myself on a regular basis to have the ability to right a completely uninformative paragraph like this.

Adult Sunday School Classes

Christian Character

This study is designed to awaken us to the character of a true disciple and move us to hunger after righteousness. The effectiveness of our deeds in the world is determined by the holiness of our lives. But today our standard is often far too mediocre, a standard which has been lowered to enable us to live comfortably. Jesus calls us to live in a Christian counterculture, which speaks a prophetic message to the world by its very existence. Jim Connors and Terry Carlson teach this class in the Library.

Growing In The Lord

In this class we will identify those things that help us grow deep in the Lord and discuss the importance of a well-balanced spiritual diet to help us grow strong in our faith. Rick Lipira teaches this class in Pastor Darrell's office. (Enter through the courtyard.)

Membership Class

This class looks at what the scriptures teach about the “Body of Christ.” It is a distinctive look at the church in history and our own church to gain an understanding about its beliefs, mission, ministries, and the work of the Holy Spirit flowing through its members. Participants will become acquainted with the mission and vision of Grace Evangelical Church and their vital part in serving our Lord through this local body of believers. This class is taught by Pastor Dennis in the Upper Room.

Through The Roof

This ministry provides a Sunday School class and activities for teens and adults with physical and/or cognitive disABILITIES. Classes involving music, drama, personal sharing and object lessons make the Bible come alive in an easy-to-understand format. This class is led by Glynda King and meets in Room 203.

Changing Times…End Times

With all the new technologies and the wealth of information that is available today we are seeing our ideas of the last day scenarios change dramatically in the last few years. It is important to stay informed of the strategic trends that are taking place around us to be better stewards of the vital message of salvation that we are charged to deliver. This class is taught by Roger Mann in the Chapel.

Christian Myths & Truths

There are many statements or beliefs concerning our Christian faith we have heard or read about, that we can so easily accept without much thought or investigation. And many of these statements or beliefs do not follow what we find in Scripture. But how do we know what is true and what is not? During this quarter we will look at some often shared beliefs and seek to discern or disprove their validity. Frank Stanley teaches this class in Room 202.

Hebrews

The book of Hebrews covers the absolute supremacy and sufficiency of Jesus Christ as revealer and as mediator of God’s grace. The prophecies and promises of the Old Testament are fulfilled in the new covenant of which Christ is the mediator. The readers of Hebrews are told that there can be no turning back to our continuation in the old Jewish system, which has been superseded by the unique priesthood of Christ. God’s people now must look only to him, whose atoning death, resurrection and ascension have opened the way into the true, heavenly sanctuary of God’s presence. Walter Maris teaches this class in Room 204.

Not A Fan

A fan is defined as an enthusiastic admirer. Is that how you define your relationship with Him? Close enough to Jesus to get the benefits but not so close to require sacrifice? He was looking for followers,  completely committed followers. How would things change if we lived as Jesus lived, and loved the way He loved? This class is open to anyone interested in exploring these questions as we study the Word of God along side this book written by Kyle Idleman. David & Sarah Montgomery teach this class in Room 209.

Childrens Sunday School

Our Children’s ministry realizes that the parents are the "first curriculum" in teaching and training children. Our teachers support parents and emphasize family unity.

Children are beautiful in their innocence, creativity and potential, and are truly a gift from God. God places a high value on children and our ministry goal is to help bring to fulfillment God’s design in their lives.  Since children are naturally open to God, we strive to introduce lessons that involve the child at his or her own level. We are committed in developing faith and belief in children so they may grow to express value in God. A listing of room numbers for children’s classes is at the information desk.

Ladies Sunday School

The Gospel of Ruth:  Loving God Enough To Break The Rules

Pam Clary teaches this class for Ladies in Room 206. This isn’t the Ruth, the Naomi, or the Boaz we thought we knew. Carolyn James has unearthed startling new insights from this well-worn story...insights that have life-changing implications for you. The author uncovers the counter-cultural, rule-breaking gospel Jesus modeled and taught His followers to pursue. Within this age-old story is a map to radical levels of love and sacrifice, combined with the message that God is counting on his daughters to build His kingdom.
