A MIDDLE SCHOOLER WALKS
INTO A BAR . . .
Bars are a constant conversation between youth workers! We are always talking about whether or not we are setting the bars too high or too low! I feel that society has set the bar too low for our students so sometimes when they see where the bars are set in their families, at church, or with Jesus– they don’t like it.
Bars should be set high enough that if the student isn’t walking in the way that he/she should be, it hits them in the forehead!
Our ministry verse, 1 Timothy 4:12 says, “And don’t let anyone put you down because you’re young. Teach believers with your life: by word, by faith, by integrity.” _Message
For some students, that bar might be when I see them roll their eyes after their mom tells them something and then walks away! For all middle school students, the bar we set for them is to be daily sharing their faith with their friends, class mates, family and neighbors!
Talk to your student about the different bars that are set in front of them, and how to measure up before one of those bars hits them. Middle school students are capable of so much more than what society says . . . God tells us in His word!
COMING EVENTS
May 2nd - Must have Money and Super SummerCamp application turned in. Cost is $100.
May 9th - 8th Grade Graduation party in the Middle School Room. Be there at 6:30pm for a great time of honoring our middle schoolers. All 5th-8th grade students may attend as well as parents of the 8th graders. This is FREE!
May 29th—31st - iServe 2012
Cost is $45 for all students entering 5th grade through 6th grade (right now). We start at 10am at Brookdale Presbyterian Church and go until 5pm on May 29th and 30th. Lunch is provided and a t-shirt is given to each student. We will be doing local missions projects both days. Then, on the 31st, we will be meeting at Fredrick Blvd. Baptist at 9am and are going to World’s of Fun! Sign up NOW! Applications are at the student ministries kiosk!
May 30th – NO TM412—Break Week.
June 18th—22nd – Super Summer Camp bus leaves at 9:00am. Bring $$ for lunch down and back!
