Fret Not
Psalm 37:1-40

1. Lied Lodge Marriage Retreat?

2. Read Psalm 37:1-40

3. Pray

I. How not to live:

A. Fret not

1. Do not lose heart.

2. The temptation to think that only the wicked succeed.

B. Envy not

1. Wishing for someone else’s journey

2. A little that a righteous man has is better than the riches of many wicked. (vs. 16)

C. Cease from anger

1. Ultimately, anger that results from Fretting, and Envy is directed toward God.

2. This is not the best manner in which the righteous approaches God.

II. How to live:

A. Trust in the Lord

1. I have been young, and now am old;
Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken,
Nor his descendants begging bread. (vs. 25)

B. Commit your ways to the Lord

1. The word “commit” is literally “roll.”

2. Keep rolling your questions, concerns, and problems on the Lord every day and the way in which you should go will be made clear to you. (Courson)

C. Wait on the Lord

1. “to wait”, implies the extension of a straight line from one point to another.

2. The first point is the human heart; the line is its intense desire; and the last point is God.
