This Memorial Day weekend, we are invited to hold two profound realities together: gratitude for those who gave their lives to secure our freedoms, and awe for the One who gave His life to secure our salvation. Drawing from Acts 5:12-16, this message explores the remarkable power of the early church — a power rooted not in cultural relevance or crowd-pleasing, but in purity, holiness, and total dependence on the Holy Spirit. Just as military sacrifice demands our remembrance and gratitude, the sacrifice of Christ calls us to lives of integrity and surrender. The first church was filled with ordinary people transformed into bold witnesses, and God’s power flowed through them precisely because they refused to compromise. Today, we are challenged to examine our own hearts, pursue genuine holiness, and trust that the same Spirit who moved in Acts is still moving today — not through human cleverness or technique, but through yielded, purified vessels who make themselves available to God’s purposes.
