Pastor Josh Blevins’ Easter message, titled “The Serpent’s Head,” centered on the resurrection of Jesus as the pivotal event in God’s redemptive plan. He began by reminding the congregation of the historical and spiritual significance of the resurrection, reading from Luke 24 and drawing connections across Scripture—from Genesis 3:15’s promise of the serpent’s defeat, to Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection as the fulfillment of that promise. Jesus, as the second Adam, succeeded where the first Adam failed by offering himself in sacrificial love for humanity. Through his death and resurrection, Jesus crushed the serpent’s head, securing victory over sin, death, and Satan. Pastor Josh underscored how this single event is the cornerstone of the Christian faith and the only true source of eternal hope.
He encouraged listeners to zoom out and see their lives within the greater story God is writing—from Eden to the final garden of Revelation. Though we currently live “in the weeds” of a broken world, believers can cling to the promises of Christ’s victory, knowing nothing can separate them from his love. Drawing from Romans 8, he reassured that Jesus overcomes every opposition, accusation, condemnation, and separation. He concluded with a call to faith, inviting anyone who hadn’t yet trusted Christ to receive the free gift of salvation. Emphasizing that Easter offers an “emptiness full of promises”—an empty grave that secures eternal life—he urged all to let Jesus be the author of their story.
