What does a Spirit-filled church look like under pressure? Acts 4:23–37 gives us a stunning answer. When Peter and John were threatened by the very authorities who condemned Jesus, the early church didn’t scatter in fear — they gathered in prayer. They anchored their faith in God’s sovereignty, asked not for comfort but for boldness, and expressed their unity through radical, grace-driven generosity. This passage reveals four marks of a Spirit-formed church: oneness in fellowship and prayer, oneness in faith rooted in God’s supremacy, oneness in resolve to speak the gospel regardless of the cost, and oneness in love made visible through sacrificial giving. This is not a portrait of a perfect church — it’s a portrait of a Spirit-dependent one. A church becomes Spirit-filled not because life is easy, but because Christ is supreme, prayer is central, mission is shared, and love becomes practical.
