Colossians | 2:1-10 Part 2

Scripture: Colossians 2:1-10

Pastor Josh opened with a humorous, relatable story about a chaotic morning, illustrating the need for grace and the importance of staying grounded in God’s word, even amid life’s unpredictability. He then continued his teaching from Colossians 2:1–10, exploring the theme “Completed or Cheated – Part 2.” The key message was about the believer’s choice between being “complete in Christ” or being “cheated by worldly philosophies and false teachings.”

Paul warns believers to stay rooted in the truth of Christ, not swayed by deceptive ideas that sound spiritual but are not grounded in the Gospel. True spiritual depth is not about mystical experiences or new revelations but about being firmly rooted, built up, and established in the faith as taught in Scripture.

Josh emphasized that we are complete in Christ, who embodies all the fullness of God. Just as Jesus was the perfect representation of divinity, believers united with Him become the truest version of what humanity was meant to be. He used vivid illustrations (like weakened trees after Chernobyl and a collapsed hotel due to a poor foundation) to highlight the dangers of building on anything other than Christ.

He urged the church to:

  • Remain in the simplicity and sufficiency of the Gospel.
  • Walk in Christ as they received Him—humbly, dependently, and faithfully.
  • Be discerning against false teachings.
  • Abound in thanksgiving rather than spiritual discontentment.

Josh closed with a passionate call to grow in Christ, to pursue His truth deeply, and to recognize the invaluable treasure found in Him. He also extended a heartfelt invitation for those who don’t know Jesus to turn to Him for salvation, new life, and peace with God.
