The Raised Life: Part 2

Scripture: Colossians 3:8-11

The message begins with a powerful reflection on God’s identity, beginning with His introduction to Moses as “I Am that I Am.” This statement encapsulates God’s sufficiency to meet every need of the human soul—whether as living water for the spiritually dry, bread of life for the hungry, or shepherd for the lost. Pastor Josh uses this framework to emphasize Jesus as the fulfillment of all that humanity lacks. The sermon urges listeners to see Jesus as the sole source of forgiveness, purpose, and eternal life. Through the lens of Colossians 3, the message challenges believers to live a “raised life”—one that reflects the transformative nature of the gospel, shedding sinful patterns and taking on the character of Christ.

The heart of the teaching focuses on practical Christian living, particularly in relationships. Paul’s command to “put off” the old nature—marked by anger, malice, wrath, slander, and filthy language—is contrasted with putting on a “new wardrobe” of tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Pastor Josh emphasizes that forgiveness is not optional but a command rooted in Christ’s forgiveness of us. The message also warns against harboring unforgiveness and gossip, which fuel division and pain. Instead, believers are called to truth, love, and unity—reconciling differences and living out the gospel in tangible ways. The goal is to let Christ’s character be visible in every interaction, making it clear to the world who we belong to.
