The Word…

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.  -John 1:1-2

In the very first two verses in John 1 we are given a magnificent statement of God.   Demonstrating to every believer the authority of a triune God who has always existed.  Who has always been present through the expanse of time.

In the scientific community there are some that have come to the realization that for things to exist there has to have been something that has always existed.  The book of John clearly states this truth.  That in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John’s use of the term word resonated with both the Greeks and Jews of his day.   Jewish teachers often referred to God in the terms of the word.   The translation for the expression word in Greek was logos.   Greeks saw logos as the ultimate power that put things in balance and order.

John 1:1-2 distinguishes the fact that the Word was with God and the word was God.   God the father is separate from God the Son and God the holy spirit.   Yet all three persons are one and together God.

The inspired book of John helps us as believers to understand the truth the Jesus is the son of God, that Jesus within the trinity is God.  By believing in him we may have eternal life in his name.

As Christians we have been given the blessing and opportunity to have a relationship with the God of Heaven and earth.   The very God who spoke the world into existence before our measure of time began.  The same God that through the Holy Spirit inspired the written word of God.  Which details his nature, his plan and order within his creation.

How are we making the most of our relationship with God?   If we have believed on the name of Christ, repented of our sins, and received his free gift, we are a afforded a relationship and access to the very throne of God.

We are recipients of his love as his children, given access to his wisdom and knowledge.   Our journey of faith with him provides meaning, hope and purpose.

Again, how are we exercising and making the most of our relationship with him?   The relationship made possible through his atonement.  A price paid for in love for our eternal benefit.

God’s plan has always provided an invitation.   As believers we have been equipped in our relationship with him and the limitless resources of God’s word.   Let us seek to bring the Good news with God to a world in need.
