Scripture: Matthew 9:35–38

Pastor Josh Blevins shared a heartfelt message for Grace Church’s Missions Week, emphasizing the call for every believer to live on mission for Christ. Drawing from Matthew 9:35–38, he highlighted how Jesus, moved with compassion for the lost, declared that the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. This passage serves as a foundational reminder that all followers of Christ are called to be missionaries—not just those who go overseas, but anyone willing to carry the message of hope and truth to a world in need. Jesus Himself was the ultimate missionary, sent from heaven to bring salvation, and He commissions His followers to carry on that mission locally and globally.

Pastor Josh encouraged the church to reflect on four essential qualities of a mission-minded Christian: a firm grasp of gospel truth, the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit, a heart of compassion for the lost, and a clear understanding of their commission. He also shared practical ways believers can engage in missions—by going, by sending through financial support, and by praying faithfully for those who are serving. Sharing personal stories from his own mission experiences, Pastor Josh reminded the church of the powerful impact that obedience can have—even when it begins with reluctance. Ultimately, he emphasized that our motivation for missions must be rooted in love, not duty. Just as God sent His Son because He loved the world, we are sent because of that same love—and when our hearts are captured by God’s glory, missions becomes a natural act of worship and obedience.
